My Journey to Becoming My Own Boss

Picture this: the moment you’ve been working towards finally arrives after countless hours of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
Here I am, standing on the brink of my dream, and the feeling of freedom is absolutely exhilarating. It’s not just relief; it’s a deep sense of pride and an overwhelming sense of achievement.

Welcome to the beginning of my journey—a story of relentless pursuit, unwaivering belief, and the sweet taste of success.

The journey has taken me a long time, with many bumps in the road, flat tyres, and lack of fuel. But the one thing I didn’t do was give up or give in. Slowly, bit by bit, I edged myself closer to my destination—my dream, my goal—to leave the day job and be my own boss, with my own business.

And here I am!

I’d be lying if I said my destination was all roses and easy. But you know what? It’s a different kind of worry and stress—it almost feels healthy, vibrant, and very exciting. I have everything ahead of me and can mould it to what I want it to be—not anyone else’s—just mine.

There have been times on this journey I’ve thought, “You know what, forget it. It’s way too hard, impossible, and total pie in the sky to think I can leave a full-time, well-paid job and start up my own business. How am I intelligent enough to do that, and how do I even begin to think it’ll be affordable?”

But what the journey has taught me, through coaching myself and being coached by others, is that there is always a way around or through something that will get you to the next stepping stone or through another door. Some stones may be easy to jump onto and some doors too heavy to open, but I’ve learned you can get past them all if the desire and belief are there.

So, this is my first attempt at ‘blogging’. I’m not going to lie—I’ve been told it’s good for directing people to your website, so here I am trying to blog to steer you towards my direction. I’ve never considered myself a creative writer, and I’m not sure this piece is particularly creative, but I’m finding it quite fun and cathartic at the same time.

I’ve been a qualified Life Coach for some time now, but without the social media side, so thought it was time to ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ and get this side of my business in order.

Embracing the Journey

As I look back on the journey that brought me here, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for every challenge I faced. Each obstacle was a lesson, a stepping stone that brought me closer to my dream.

The flat tyres taught me resilience, the lack of fuel taught me resourcefulness, and the bumps in the road taught me patience.

Every single experience shaped me into the person I am today—a person who didn’t give up, who believed in their dream, and who made it happen.

Starting my own business was a leap of faith. It’s been scary, daunting, and filled with uncertainties. But it’s also been thrilling, empowering, and incredibly rewarding. There were days when I doubted myself, when I wondered if I was making a huge mistake. But those days were outnumbered by the days when I felt alive, inspired, and unstoppable.

The Power of Belief

One of the biggest lessons I learned on this journey is the power of belief. Believing in myself, in my vision, and in my ability to make it happen was crucial.

There were times when my belief waivered, when I questioned my intelligence, my capabilities, and my sanity. But deep down, there was always a small, persistent voice that kept telling me to keep going, to keep pushing, to keep believing.

I learned that belief is not just about thinking positively or hoping for the best. It’s about committing to your vision, taking consistent action, and trusting the process. It’s about knowing that even when things get tough, you have the strength, the skills, and the determination to overcome any obstacle.

Finding My Way

Coaching played a significant role in my journey. Through coaching myself and being coached by others, I discovered new perspectives, gained valuable insights, and developed effective strategies.

Coaching helped me navigate the challenges, stay focused on my goals, and maintain my motivation. It was a lifeline that kept me grounded and guided me through the toughest times.

I also learned the importance of having a support system. Surrounding myself with people who believed in me, who encouraged me, and who offered their support made a huge difference. They were my cheerleaders, my sounding boards, and my sources of inspiration. They reminded me that I was not alone, that I had a network of people who cared about me and wanted to see me succeed.

Embracing the Fear

Stepping into the world of social media is a big leap for me. I had always been hesitant about putting myself out there, about sharing my thoughts and experiences with the world.

But I’ve learned and come to realise that if I wanted to grow my business and reach more people, I had to overcome my fear and embrace the opportunities that social media offers.

Creating my website, setting up my LinkedIn profile, and starting a Facebook page are all new and challenging experiences. But they were also exciting and empowering. They will allow me to connect with a wider audience, share my message, and build my brand. They will give me a platform to showcase my skills, share my journey, and inspire others.

Moving Forward

As I move forward:

  • I am filled with excitement and anticipation. I know there will be more challenges ahead, but I am ready to face them.
  • I am ready to continue learning, growing, and evolving. I am ready to embrace new opportunities, take on new challenges, and achieve new goals.
  • I am grateful for the journey that brought me here, for the lessons I have learned, and for the person I have become.
  • I am proud of what I have achieved and excited about what the future holds.

This is just the beginning of a new chapter, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
